Clip Art Island
Shortly before the Revolutionary War, the island was acquired by Samuel Ellis, a New York merchant. He ran a small tavern on the island to cater to all the folks - primarily fishermen - who made their living on the waters in and around the island. In 1808, the heirs of Samuel Ellis sold the island to New York State. New York State sold it to the federal government later that year. Through these transfers and up to the present, it has maintained the name Ellis Island.
Just imagine you and your friends having an afternoon spa party and when it's time for refreshments you amble on over to the Tiki bar and each has a nice cool drink and a few snacks. That's right I said Tiki bar. No, you are not on an Island paradise you are in your own backyard and the Tiki bar is your own. With more and more people entertaining in their own backyards these days having Tiki bars - also known as Tiki huts - makes sense. It's a great way to keep drinks cold and handy while providing a touch of the exotic to your own little paradise.
